She Didn’t Feel Her Heart

There she is falling apart

Broken inside

Every word spoken is tart

But she didn’t feel her heart

Maybe a tear fell

Maybe one or two

She was trapped under his spell

But she knew what to do

Because she didn’t feel her heart

Emptiness echoed inside her chest

Some relief she did feel

At best

But no

She didn’t feel her heart

A new man walks in

Nice clothes

Smelled good

Handsome grin

She knew better but

She still let him in

Now you would have thought

That she finally felt her heart

But no one could light that flame

Stuck in this endless game

Wishing someone would rescue her

Maybe she is further

Than the rest of them

Maybe that would explain

Why she couldn’t feel her heart

She wasn’t lonely

No way

They all came at her

Trying to stay

But not a single one

Could make that lovely beat play

All along

She sang a song

But no music could be heard

Not near or far away

She laid down at night

And slowly closed her eyes

The song she sung

It slowly made her drift into day
