I put the pieces together
With glue, tape, & maybe a little gum
I touch it and feel it
It’s completely numb
Lifeless
But you plug in the paddles
I step back
Not much hope left
You say clear
Then shock the shit outta of it
All of a sudden
My heart beats
Once, then shuts off
“Clear”
You shock it again
I see the blood pumping in my veins
My heart is beating
It’s Alive!
“This time….” you said
“In a safe place”
I watch as you roll it away
I know it’s not far
You placed it in a safe
Behind lock and key
